We take your privacy seriously — not just because we have to, but because we genuinely care about it. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. No lawyer-speak, just plain language.

We collect different types of information depending on how you use Bilnk:

When you sign up:

• Your name, email address, and password (encrypted, of course)
• Profile information you choose to add (bio, profile picture, social links)

When you use the platform:

• Links you create and their settings
• Template choices and customization preferences
• Payment information (processed by PayPal — we never see your card numbers)

When visitors view your profile:

• IP address (to determine approximate location)
• Country, city, and region
• Device type (mobile, desktop, tablet)
• Browser and operating system
• Referring website (where they came from)
• Which links they clicked and when

2. Why We Collect It

Simple — to make Bilnk work and to help you understand your audience:

• Account management: So you can log in, manage your profiles, and use the platform
• Analytics: So you can see who's visiting your page, from where, and what they're clicking
• Billing: So we can process your subscription payments
• Improvement: So we can understand how people use Bilnk and make it better
• Communication: So we can send you important updates about your account (subscription reminders, team invitations)

3. What We DON'T Do

Let's be clear about what we'll never do:

• We don't sell your personal data to anyone. Period.
• We don't show ads on your profile pages
• We don't share your analytics data with other users
• We don't track you across other websites
• We don't use your data for AI training

4. Cookies

We use a few essential cookies to keep things running:

• Session cookie: Keeps you logged in while you're using Bilnk
• CSRF token: Protects your forms from cross-site attacks
• Theme preference: Remembers if a visitor chose dark mode (stored in browser, not on our server)

We don't use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics tools like Google Analytics.

5. Third-Party Services

We use a limited number of third-party services:

• PayPal: Processes payments. Their privacy policy applies to payment transactions.
• ipapi.co: Provides approximate geolocation from IP addresses for analytics. We only send the IP — no personal data.
• Google Fonts: Loads custom fonts. Google may log font requests.

6. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. We use:

• Encrypted passwords (bcrypt hashing — we can't see your password even if we wanted to)
• HTTPS encryption for all connections
• CSRF protection on all forms
• Rate limiting on public endpoints to prevent abuse

No system is 100% secure, but we do our best to protect your data. If we ever experience a breach, we'll notify affected users within 72 hours.

7. Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

• Access: You can see all your data in your dashboard
• Edit: Update your profile, links, and settings anytime
• Export: Contact us to request a copy of all your data
• Delete: Delete your account from Profile settings — we'll remove your data within 30 days

If you're in the EU, you have additional rights under GDPR (right to rectification, right to be forgotten, right to data portability). Contact us to exercise these rights.

8. Children's Privacy

Bilnk is not designed for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we'll remove it.

9. Data Retention

• Account data: Kept as long as your account is active
• Analytics data: Kept for 2 years, then automatically deleted
• Visitor logs: Kept for 90 days
• Payment records: Kept for 7 years (legal requirement for financial records)
• Deleted accounts: All data removed within 30 days, except backups which are purged within 90 days

10. Changes to This Policy

If we make changes, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top and notify you by email for significant changes. We won't reduce your privacy rights without giving you a heads-up.
